As I have mentioned earlier, there are four unreleased songs that could become part of the next album by the Alphaboys feat. Joe Scholes. After presenting Ballerina Valerie, Perfect and My Love Is Real here is the last one on the list: “Doing The Ska”.
An Exception
It is an exception in many ways. First of all, it is not a love song, secondly it was written in a very short period of time (an afternoon or so), and thirdly – maybe because of the lack of pain and hard labour that went into writing it – I don’t think it has earned a place on an album. It was all too easy. On the other hand it went down very well with audiences at shows of my former band The Braces, for a song that they didn’t know. What will the Alphaboys think of it? What do you think?

Listen to the live recording from the beautiful Ska festival in Rosslau. Let’s hope the promoters invite the Alphaboys next year with a new album out. Coming Up Next
Next to come are atoms of the songs that I am about to write/currently writing or have already dismissed for my band. In a weekly series I will post packages of 5 musical memos I recorded with my mobile phone, and I will comment on them. It will be necessary to comment on them because otherwise I fear they wouldn’t make sense to anyone else. While in my head the recordings might open a whole musical world, to everyone else it is probably just a few seconds of senseless mumbling. It will be interesting to know which of these memos will later evolve into complete and finished songs, and which will be lost and buried on the way.
