Welcome to Part 1 of the Mobile Musical Memos Series. For an introduction to the concept behind it please go here:
And these are today’s five memos with my comments.
“I’ll never gonna wear that dress again” (working title) Though this will probably change. The word “dress” is more connected to women’s clothing. I’m not planning to write this one from a woman’s perspective (or a male crossdresser’s).
Why I recorded it: Just fooling around on the guitar at home, while the children were in the bath.
What I think about it now: I like the idea of listing different things you don’t want to do any more, because you do not want to be reminded of your ex.

“I’ll never gonna wear that dress again” II (working title). Again.
Why I recorded it: Another go with different chords maybe more fitting to the acoustic solo styles of Joe Scholes.
What I think about it now: ok, once you have found the right note to start.

“Got To Give Him Time” (working title)
Why I recorded this: Not wanting to write about drinking and partying all night long, looking for grown-up topics. Thought this could be one. A piece of advise that a friend would give to a woman who fell in love with some one like me. The “me” from my pre family years.
What I think about it now: Maybe I should only keep the melody, replace the dummy text. I will play around with it.

“Instrumental” (working title)
Why I recorded this: I emphatically object to the obligation that every ska song must have a brass riff, but this one just stuck in my head.
What I think about it now: Could be applied to one of the songs. Could be forgotten quite as well.

“I Was Feeling Something, not anymore”
Why I recorded this: From love to hate to indifference. Who can’t relate to it? I can.
What I think about it now: I suspect it to being musically too close to “Indian Queens”, a song by Nick Lowe. If I can work that out, it could be something for Joe Scholes (acoustic), probably not the Alpha Boys.
