New Song “Freedom Sounds” – Not A Skatalites Cover

This Saturday the Freedom Sounds Festival is held in Cologne, Germany. I’m not only playing there, but also involved in organizing it. Like many more people.

The excitement around the festival lead to a joint venture between me and a great band from Cologne called The Clerks. The song comes from me. Gero Kuntermann recorded and produced “Freedom Sounds”, my good friend Gregor Pottmeier did the video. I hope you like it.

In March 2013 Joe Scholes & The Clerks teamed up to record „Freedom Sounds.” The song was inspired by the Freedom Sounds Festival, a Ska&Reggae Festival freshly started by a bunch of devoted Ska people in Cologne, Germany. Be there on March 16th 2013 at the Gebaeude 9.The name „Freedom Sounds” ultimately alludes to the Jamaican liberation movement in the 1960s, a source of inspiration for the first generation of Ska musicians around The Skatalites. „Freedom Sounds” was written by J. Uerschels, produced by G. Kuntermann, filmed and edited by G. Pottmeier.
