Ready Steady Go! 8 titles of songs that will soon be presented to the Alpha Boys (003)

Before posting new audio files let me talk about where I am at this point. As I told you, my goal is to deliver songs for a new album, hopefully by the Alpha Boys feat. Joe Scholes. So, what is the starting basis on this date? The plan is to release the album in the coming year, let’s say late 2010. As of today, the 16th of November 2009, there are already some finished songs, some fragments and the will to write more.

a. Finished Songs
I have a few songs already completed in a way that they have been performed live, in a rehearsal room or in a studio by my former band The Braces or by myself in acoustic versions under the Joe Scholes moniker. Yet, these songs have not been included in an album. Four of them I think.

1. Perfect
2. Ballerina Valerie
3. My Love Is Real
4. Doing The Ska

Maybe some of them could also fit the Alpha Boys. Maybe not. I will provide you with audio and would really love to hear what you think about them.

b. Digging deep
I also have a whole bunch of ideas that are compiled in folders, some song fragments I have been playing around for months or years, before I hooked up with the Alpha Boys. I guess there is material in these folders for a few more albums. I have to separate the top notch from mediocre, the style from the shite. That should be fun. But then I have to go the hard way from fragment to whole song. And will they fit the band? What will the band think of the ideas? Just to name a few that I will present later:

5. Would you walk away?
6. When the dance is over
7. Never gonna be the first of us
8. Freddie the Fox

c. All new
Still a different story are the songs that I plan to write in the near future, with the Alpha Boys on my mind. You could say: “A good song is a good song no matter played by whom.” And who am I to disagree. But it can be very inspiring to imagine your delicate song bud with a very cool, heavy bass line, a rough drumbeat, pounding brass-riffs, some great organ works and exactly the right harmonies. My feeling is that most of the songs that could land on the new Alpha Boys album will belong to category “c”. Coming up next (e.g. in 2-3 days) is a posting dedicated to a song called “Perfect.” I will share with you a not-too-bad live version of the song from The Braces festival appearance in Rosslau 2004, a “me and my guitar” strummed version and a low-fi Rocksteady shot.
