Kick Off – Writing songs for a new album (001)

“So, what’s the idea behind this blog?” You may well ask, if you spend your time reading in it. And I will try to give answers.
joescholes.com is planned to be a documentation of how songs are written for the next album by Alpha Boys feat. Joe Scholes. I will be presenting some ideas, will be ordering them, hopefully getting some feedback by the rest of the band and by enthusiasts from around the corner or around the globe. Then I will write more, re-write until the job is done. Whoever is interested can be part of this process. No one knows now what the album will be called, what songs will be on it, and what it will sound like. The plan is to release the album until the end of 2010. A lot, if not everything, remains to be done on the way.
Background information: This summer I joined a band. The group used to be called Alpha Boy School, before their singer, songwriter and guitarist Karsten Riedel left. Now the name is Alpha Boys feat. Joe Scholes to show that something changed, but the band is not all new. As for playing live, Karsten left a lot of great songs, we include a few cover versions and some of the songs that used to be part of the set of my former band The Braces. While this is a good thing for now, we want to go and get new songs, a live set and a sound of our own as soon as possible.
So, don’t forget to bookmark this blog if you are interested. Share, retweet, or whatever can be done today.

On Saturday, 27th of February 2010, the name Alpha Boys feat. Joe Scholes was buried. What happened? I will get into that later. […]
